Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara

Maybelline Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara

Mascara is one of the easiest things to collect, but that doesn’t mean everyone you magically end up with is a good one. In a mascara I look for something that with fully coat all my lashes without clumping them together and make them look as full as possible. After using Revitalash I am blessed with quite lush eyelashes at the moment, but something that would make them look longer wouldn’t go a miss.

Maybelline recently launched their Falsies Push Up Drama Mascara designed to give lashes a dark, sultry look, with all the volume and a formula designed to keep them beautifully curled and in place. Yes Please!maybelline-the-falsies-mascara

Maybelline New Face Products 2016

Maybelline New Face Products 2016

Maybelline has launched new face products left, right and center lately. With my weakness for foundations I knew I had to try the new Dream Velvet Foundation and then when they launch products together, you just have to get all of them together. Or you know just get excuses to buy more makeup XD So I purchased then Master Conceal, Dream Velvet Foundation and Master Fix Setting Spray.

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks in Rebel Red and Nude Flush

Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks in Rebel Red and Nude Flush

I have adored matte liquid lipsticks for such a long time and have been so pleased that some easier to find brands have been launching their own. Maybelline has had their Vivid Mattes out for a while now, but it has been quite hard to get one as the stand is always empty. I was lucky enough to be taken out shopping for my Birthday and the lipstick Gods smiled on me that day as there was a full stand of Maybelline. I picked up Nude Flush and Rebel Red.Maybelline Vivid Mattes Read more

November Round Up

November Round Up

Its December!! *dances* I am so excited for Christmas. I get to see all my family, dish out presents and I even have holidays!

November disappeared, but even though I did not get many posts out I have been trying out quite a few products for the last month and can’t wait to share them with you 🙂

November Round Upedited

Back, Left to Right: Essence All Day Concealer, Maybelline Brow Drama, Simple Micellar Water and Manuka Doctor Hair Mask.
Front Row, Left to Right: Art Deco Magic Fix, Face Shop I Make You Brighter and Essence Lip Liner.

Manuka Doctor Restorative Hair Mask:
– Sent for Review
Website
– $29.95 NZD
– Available at Life Pharmacy (NZ) and Manuka Doctor website (international)

This stuff is great!! I use the mask about 1-2 times a week and my hair really looks good. When I still had some dry, damaged bits on my hair it really helped to hide the appearance of them. Now that my hair is shorter it still does a great job of making my hair soft and more manageable. It seems to be coaxing some life into my poor tired hair and it seems to be growing quicker. The mask is thick, but massages into your hair with ease. I would love to get more of it.

Essence Lip Liner in Transparent:
Website
– $2.50 NZD
– Available from Price Wise Direct(NZ), Farmers(NZ), Kosmetik4Less (int)

The concept of clear lip liners is not a new one to me, I have used Model Co one for years. I just wanted to try one that was cheaper and easier to get my hands on. I used the liner before I applied my lipstick as well as afterwards to help smooth out edges. It worked better than I would have thought to stop lipstick bleeding or feathering and to keep those crisp lines for longer. I enjoy using clear liners more as I have a heap of lipstick, some in colours that you can never find liners to match *cough* green *cough* There is a lot of product and I have still not had to sharpen it, so in the far future when I eventually use it all up, yes I would get it again.

Simple Kind To Skin Micellar Water:
Website
– $11.99 NZD
– Available at Countdown (NZ), The Warehouse (NZ), Pak N Save (NZ),

I had heard great things about this Micellar Water, heard that it was better than the famous Garnier one, but for me it was just ok. I feel like Garnier worked better for me. It doesn’t irritate my skin or anything like that and it removes my makeup well enough, but I feel like I’ve used better. If there was no others left and I needed some I would buy it because it does do the trick.

I would like to try Nivea and Loreal’s Micellar water next and Garnier’s Micellar wipes.

Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Dark Brown:maybelline20eyebrow20220and20lagirl20mascara_zpsehaxnqdzWebsite
– $15.00 NZD
– Available from Farmers (NZ), The Warehouse (NZ), Life Pharmacy (NZ), Beauty Bliss website (NZ), Makeup.co.nz website (NZ), Price Line (AU), Ulta (US), Boots (UK)

I have been filling my brows in for a good wee while now, I feel like I went from nothing to full drawn on really quick, so thought I would give then in between step of eyebrow mascaras a go. Its not bad, something I think I will use when I am going for a lighter look or a easy day at home. It is also pretty good to help set my brows if I am just using powder to fill them in. Application could have been a little easier, the brush was not the easiest. The brush had a ball of bristles at the bottom, which was quite unwieldy.

I don’t think I will replace this, I will try something else.

Essence Stay All Day 16 Hour Long Lasting Concealer in 20 Soft Beige:
Website
– $5.65 NZD
– Available from Price Wise Direct(NZ), Farmers(NZ), Kosmetik4Less (int)

Essence is a great brand if you have a smaller budget, but would still like to have good quality makeup. The colour matched me perfectly and blended in perfectly, coverage was pretty good and did last all day. It was not super amazing or super bad, just good. I would definitely get again.

Art Deco Magic Fix:
Website
– n/a
– Available from Price Wise Direct (NZ), Farmers (NZ)

Along with the clear liners I use I also use lipstick sealers to help keep my lipstick where it is meant to be. Magic Fix is designed to stop your lipstick from coming off on things and help it last longer. I found this was better for my lipsticks that had a tendency to wear off within hours of applying it or bleed something chronic. If you are sold on keeping your lipstick glossy I would not recommend putting this on top, it does have a tendency to matte your lipstick a bit. I use this more for when I am going out and will not be able to bring my lipstick or a lipstick I adore but gives me toruble. I do not use this for every day lipstick wear as I do get a chance to reapply my lipstick at work. This is great to have and I will be getting myself some more.

This was actually a clear liquid when I got it, but because you use the brush to apply the product it slowly made it go pinky coloured. If you are just starting to use yours wipe the brush after every use to try and keep it from changing colour. From what I can tell it does not tint the lipstick you have on.

The Face Shop Lovely me:ex I Make You Brighter Highlighter in Pink Glow:IMG_7515edited
Website
– $15.00 NZD
– Face Shop (NZ)

I stumbled across Face Shop last time I was out shopping down Queen Street and I have such a weak spot for highlighters. The packaging is cute (but a little hard to open :/) and the colour is gorgeous. It looks awesome on and blends in very well without looking like I fell glitter. I want to go back for the gold toned one!

What have you been trying out? Have you tried any of these products?

Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Color Lipsticks in Violet Intrigue, Pink Grandeur and Electric Fuchsia

Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Color Lipsticks in Violet Intrigue, Pink Grandeur and Electric Fuchsia

Good Evening,

How is your week going? I have more lipstick for you today, I am slowly getting through my mountain of to be swatched.

So as I started to write this post I flipped the lipsticks over to check I had the names right, do you know what I found on the label?! LIMITED EDITION! Bah! So I am still going to share them with you, just in case someone has it tucked away in their collection unsure on if it looks ok or if someone is hurriedly searching google for swatches while at a beauty clearance sale (I can’t be the only one who does this XD) . And they are really nice colours, I would almost say spring colours 😉

Left to Right: Violet Intrigue, Pink Grandeur and Electric Fuchsia

I really like how the tubes almost match the colour of the lipsticks themselves!

Maybelline Lipstick Close Tubes BaseLeft to Right: Violet Intrigue, Pink Grandeur and Electric Fuchsia

Left to Right: Violet Intrigue, Pink Grandeur and Electric Fuchsia

Violet Intrigue

I thought I did a crap job at getting a photo of this, but when I searched google mine looks like everyone else’s yay!! It was pretty hard to get a good photo, its not too sure if its purple or pink or a what way it leans, but I am glad I persevered.

Pink Grandeur

This is such a great deep pink, I think this would me my favourite out of all three.

Electric Fuchsia

The first time I opened this I was like “What have I done??”, it looked so pale and so very Barbie pink I thought I would never wear it. But, I have actually worn this one the most, it suits me really well 🙂

All of these performed quite well. They went on really easy and we very good at getting precise lines. I did have a bit of trouble with bleeding as the day wore on, but I solved that with clear lip liner. Besides a bit of bleeding, they wore quite well with top up only after food. I would really love to buy more of the color sensational lipsticks, there are some fantastic colours in the range!

Do you have lipsticks from Maybelline? What colours do you think I should get next?

September Round Up

September Round Up

Hello!

September is over and October is already upon us. I am already receiving emails about Christmas packs and themed products and it is a little sad. where has the year gone to? Oh well at least this means my semester will be over and done with soon XD

This month’s round up is here and very long, I am quite pleased with the track record of these products, they were all wins for me. Lets have a look.

September Round UpeditedOasis Beauty “Straight Up” (Blemish Control Serum)
– Sent for Review
Website
– $39.90 NZD
– Full list of retailers available here and International Shipping available through website.

“Straight Up is mixed to help control oil production and breakouts”

In lasts month’s round up I talked about fighting oil with oil and how strangely it works and here is another product to help with that. I tried using it in the morning, but I still found that I had to wait a little bit before putting my makeup on and sometimes I just don’t have time for that. So I moved to using it at night and the worked perfectly.

My skin looked good after a few weeks of using it regularly and I found that I was less inclined to get blemishes and if I did they did not last long. I would be really interested in giving this a go using the massage oil in and scrub off method to see how it works.

Would I replace this? Yes! I really like that it is created with sensitive skin in mind, but also fights oily skin and fights blemishes. It is not one of the cheaper oils, but the pump means you don’t get too much coming out which means there is not waste, it lasts for ages and you don’t over saturate your skin. I enjoyed the feel of it on my skin and the results it gave me.

Weleda Skin Food:

“Weleda Skin Food’s unique formulation combines 100 percent natural (NATRUE certified) skin-rewarding ingredients that have been designed specifically to instantly soothe, restore and protect all skin types with deep nourishment and intensive hydration.”

When this little tube turned up on my desk my first thought was “but what does it do?” and then the lovely people who sent it to me gave me a list of some of the things it did; helps heal slow healing wounds, protect hands from winter, restore dry/sore hands, use as a primer, nail care, skin care. I used it on my hands and feet and it felt really good going on,  I felt my poor dry hands and feet being soothed right away. I usually use this just before I go to bed so I don’t wash or wear it off and I felt as thought my hands and feet looked and felt better the next day. Regular use meant all those dry scaly bits disappeared and my skin looked good, now to just remember to do it regular, I am so bad at remembering.

The cream was really thick so I don’t think you could use it as an all over lotion, but I think it is meant for more spot treatment.

Would I replace this? Yes! It fits well into my hand bag and works so well. I would love one for work and one for home and with the two different sizes there is always the perfect size. I had good results and enjoyed using it!

Manuka Doctor ApiNourish Firm Skin Facial Moisturiser
– Sent fr Review
Website
– $49.95 NZD
– Available at Life Pharmacy (NZ) and Manuka Doctor website (international)

I have been using this for so long that I almost forgot what my skin was like before this. I feel like my skin looks and feels great and has had such huge improvements while using this moisturiser. I use this mainly in the mornings and every other night when I am not using one of my oils, this works really well as it sits underneath my makeup perfectly. It soaks in very quickly and leaves my skin feeling soft and ready for the day. Despite what I have had to eat or the amount of sleep I have had for the last week, my skin doesn’t seem to take as much of a knock while I am using this. I’m currently sitting here feeling my face and I feel as though it feels good! I even think the few lines I have started to get (-_-) are looking better!

Would I replace this? YES! I am going to swim in this!!

MAC False Lashes Extreme Black Mascara
– Sample
Website
– $22.00 USD
– Available from MAC website (US) or MAC in store (International)

Dammit MAC! I made a purchase a month a go and was able to choose a free sample and this was it. Now I need it, I need it so much. It looks great on my lashes, it makes them so dark and full without clumping. It also applies really easy and the brush is just perfect T_T Why did I do this to myself?

Tresemme Instant Refresh Dry Shampoo
Website
– $14.50 NZD
– Available from Countdown (NZ), Life Pharmacy (NZ), Pak N Save (NZ), The Warehouse (NZ) Chemist Warehouse (International)

I have used an older version of Tresemme’s dry shampoo for ages and have always sworn about it, suddenly it became hard to find and now I know why. An even better one came out. For quite a few years now I have been part of that crazy group that tries to wash their hair only two to three times a week. It took a long time before my hair looked any good, but I am never going back. Dry Shampoo was really my savior when I first started out.

I don’t have to use dry shampoo as much any more, but sometimes you just need a bit to help your hair in the morning. Tresemme’s dry shampoo works really well for me, it makes my hair look less greasy and helps give it some volume back. I can get quite oily and lank hair if I am careful so this is best for me. I would not personally use this more than once before washing my hair. I usually use this on day three when I am pushing it out between washes. It does whiten your hair a little bit, even when you brush it out. This doesn’t look too bad if you have lighter hair.

Its really inexpensive and a good product, that is easy to find, I would buy it again.

Maybelline Touch of Light Luminizing Face Glow
– Discontinued
– $8.00 NZD
– No longer available in stores, but you can find it on ebay and makeup clearance stores like buymemakeup.com

T_T I didn’t know this was discontinued till I fell in love with it. So if you can get your hands on it get a tube or two! Its a really nice subtle, liquid, golden highlighter. It blends in very well and looks best over liquid foundation. I would love to get more, but I think I will just have to live with the two tubes I have XD I can’t be the only one who has fallen in love with something discontinued right?

Thanks for reading!

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation in Natural Beige

Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation in Natural Beige

Good Morning,

Back at work already! The weekend always flies by! I thought I would share with a new foundation that I have been trialing; Maybelline’s Fit Me Foundation the Matte and Poreless edition.

Maybelline Fit Me Foundationedited
I purchased this in 220 Natural Beige and I wear MAC in NC20. I found the colour selection a little lacking, but supposedly the foundation is meant to change to suit your skin colour. Hopefully, this means no body misses out. I found that at first it was tad too dark, but once blended in with a foundation brush or sponge it looked fine and then as it settled it matched very well. It has a really natural look and finish.

I have been training myself not to touch my face through out the day, which is going well, but even when I did touch my face I found my finger tips came away with some foundation on them, but only if I rubbed. At the end of the day my foundation still looked good, it seemed to stop the end of day tired creeping through and when I took it off there was still quite a bit on my face. I also liked how it was matte, but did not sink into any of my fine lines or cling to dry skin.

Application was not a bother, you just have to make sure it is really blended in to make sure you get the best colour for your skin. It blended very easily and did not take too much work or time. I don’t know how I feel about the bottle itself. There is a lot of product which is awesome, but the bottle does not have a pump or nozzle, it is just a standard opening. I find I tend to pour too much product out, but the plus side it is easy to get back in the bottle. It does make me worry about inadvertently applying too much or wasting product though. I will have to contemplate it further.

Would I purchase this again? Yes, I really like this foundation. It lasted really well all day long, looked good and applied beautifully. Any of my concerns are teeny tiny to how well it performed.

Have you tried any of the new Maybelline Fit Me Foundations?
